I've just been listening to the first few minutes of the translation of ACD's The Crooked Man, and I was smiling at how much I understood - because I'm just so familiar with the story in English ^__^

Must admit I did already know about the Dutch Sherlock Holmes translations on Gutenberg ^^" I'd read a little and, perhaps ironically, had decided to go back to them when I had more of a grip on the Dutch I was learning - the language has undergone a couple of spelling reforms since the translations were done, and there's also a fair amount of archaic grammatical forms in the translations. But having had another look today, I'm pretty confident I'm unlikely to get confused now ^__^
